The Centre was jointly established by State Law Faculty –University of Florida and Law and Administration Faculty – Warsaw University. American Law Course has features of legal studies aiming at widening the current offer of law education with the international perspective.
The purpose of students education in the area of American law is to deepen their knowledge about precedent (common) law, which is dominant legal system worldwide, as well as making students familiar with practical aspects of American law, which power of influence goes far beyond United States of America. Another important goal of the Centre is to introduce students to teaching methods applied at American universities.
The Course lasts two semesters. At the first year of it’s activity it covered two-weeks modules of lectures in English. Lectures were given by University of Florida professors, who have been using conventional as well as innovative methods characteristic of American universities.
In the following years the curriculum will be expanded to cover 10 subjects. Students participating in the program receive materials prepared by lecturers of University of Florida. Each of the modules ends with written exam. After completion of all modules students receive a certificate of accomplishment of the studies issued jointly by Warsaw University and University of Florida.
Conditions of participating in the Course: this Course is designed for students of III, IV, V year of Law and Administration Faculty Warsaw University.
Admission proceedings include verification of candidate’s language competence and interview. The Course is subject to a tuition fee.
