On September 29, 2025, the ceremonial inauguration of the 2025/2026 academic year of the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw (WPiA UW) took place in the Auditorium Maximum of the University of Warsaw.
The ceremony was opened by Dr. habil. Sławomir Żółtek, Professor at the University of Warsaw and Dean of WPiA UW, who addressed all students, especially those beginning their first year of studies. The numerous attendees also had the honor of hearing an address from His Magnificence Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, Ph.D., D.Sc., Rector of the University of Warsaw.
In the presence of the University authorities and invited guests, the matriculation of first-year students was held. The students took the academic oath, thereby formally joining the university community.
The inaugural lecture, titled “The Role of Internationalization in Legal Education,” was delivered by Professor Lutz-Christian Wolff from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. The distinguished guest emphasized the importance of internationalization in legal education, pointing out that the global nature of modern legal challenges requires openness, international cooperation, and the ability to gain experience across different legal systems.
During the ceremony, speeches were also given by Dr. Andrzej Bielecki, Vice-Dean for Student Affairs at WPiA UW, and Mr. Piotr Czestkowski, Chair of the WPiA UW Student Council.
Among the distinguished guests were representatives of the authorities of the University of Warsaw, many deans and vice-deans from other faculties, as well as members of the academic, administrative, and legal communities. Their presence underscored the importance of the inauguration as a moment that unites the academic, professional, and student environments.
To all first-year students, we extend our warmest congratulations on beginning your studies, and to the entire WPiA community, we wish an inspiring, productive, and successful academic year 2025/2026!
