Laying Flowers on the Grave of Prof. Jan Wincenty Bandtkie-Stężyński

In keeping with a long-standing tradition, on October 10, 2025, a ceremonial laying of flowers took place at the grave of the Faculty’s first Dean, Prof. Jan Wincenty Bandtkie-Stężyński.

The ceremony was attended by Rev. Piotr Gaś, Pastor of the Holy Trinity Evangelical-Augsburg Parish; Prof. Sławomir Żółtek, Ph.D., D.Sc., Dean of the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw; Members of the Dean’s College; academic and administrative staff of the Faculty; representatives of the WPiA UW Student Government; and representatives of the Holy Trinity Parish.

Prof. Jan Wincenty Bandtkie-Stężyński (1783–1846) was a legal historian, member of the Main Council of the Royal University of Warsaw, and the first Dean (1816–1831) of the School of Law and Administration. At both institutions, he lectured on Roman law and Polish law. In 1824, he was awarded the Order of Saint Stanislaus, 3rd Class.

Prof. Bandtkie-Stężyński is buried at the Evangelical-Augsburg Cemetery of the Holy Trinity Parish, located on Młynarska Street in Warsaw’s Wola district.
