Faculty of Law and Administration
University of Warsaw
The Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw (WPiA UW) and the Management Board of PGNiG Obrót Detaliczny, ORLEN Group, have signed a cooperation agreement. The partnership paves the way for joint projects, including those related to the use of digital technologies in energy market management.
The aim of the agreement is to strengthen collaboration between the Center for Energy Transformation at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw and Poland’s leading retail gas supplier in the areas of energy transition, innovation, and digitalization. Under the agreement, the company and the university will share knowledge and experience, as well as carry out joint initiatives related to energy efficiency, regulatory frameworks, and business models in the heat and gas markets.
Additionally, the ORLEN Group company will support the Faculty in conducting educational projects focused on the application of digital technologies in the energy sector. Industry experts will participate in teaching activities such as the course Energy Transformation and in workshops organized by the Center for Energy Transformation (CTE) operating at WPiA UW. The partners will also undertake joint environmental and industry initiatives, as well as dialogue with public administration.
“As one of the key players in the energy industry, we consistently and responsibly share our knowledge. In this way, we support gas consumers – a fuel that plays a service role in the transformation process. This is directly aligned with the ORLEN 2035 strategy, which places customers at the center of our focus. Our goal is not only to help them navigate these challenging conditions but also to actively shape the environment in which they operate – through developing multi-offer solutions and providing tools that help various industries remain competitive,” said Beata Kurdelska, President of the Management Board of PGNiG Obrót Detaliczny, ORLEN Group.
“The synergy between our experience and the scientific potential of the University will allow us to create real value for all market participants. I am convinced that the projects we will implement together will contribute to enhancing the market’s stability and security,” she added.
“The cooperation with PGNiG OD, ORLEN Group, is an initiative that allows science to be applied in practice. Through the Center for Energy Transformation, the Faculty engages in projects that combine regulatory analyses and organizational solutions aimed at improving the effectiveness of the energy transition—creating benefits for all citizens,” said Prof. Sławomir Żółtek, Dean of the Faculty of Law and Administration, University of Warsaw.
“CTE conducts projects at the intersection of academia and industry. Cooperation with PGNiG OD, ORLEN Group, has an expert and implementation-oriented nature—it will enable joint actions to improve the efficiency of energy transition processes and support the development of modern tools for the energy market,” added Dr. habil. Filip Elżanowski, Head of the Center for Energy Transformation at WPiA UW.
The framework agreement between the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw and PGNiG OD, ORLEN Group, opens the door to implementing specific projects in the future, including in cooperation with other partners.
